USA Horse Could Dial In $6M Pay Day

Dialed In started the Kentucky Derby as favourite and failed to win the race but a victory this weekend would more than make up for it.

He will line up in the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico, a track in Baltimore for what could be a six million dollar payday for the owners.

The winners share of the race itself is only worth $600,000 but a USD $5.5 million bonus is now only one win away.

Dialed In qualifies for a shot at the money after two earlier victories this year in the Holy Bull Stakes and the Florida Derby.

The bonus is offered by MI Developments which controls both the Pimlico circuit and the Gulfstream circuit.

If he can win the race it would earn $6.1 million, a new North-American record comfortably ahead of the $5.8 million won by Smarty Jones back in the 2004 Kentucky Derby.

Nick Zito maintains the slightly unbelievable stand point that he’s not concerned about the pending payout and everything is business as usual as if it were any other race.

True or not, there must be some concerns after Dialed In crossed the line eighth in the Kentucky Derby a fair way behind the winner Animal Kingdom.

It won’t be an easy race to win, especially with another set of connections hoping for race day bonus.

While nowhere near $6 million, Shackleford could win a $550,000 bonus by crossing the line first this weekend.

Shackleford ran fourth in the Kentucky Derby and qualifies for a bonus after running in the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream and finishing second behind Dialed In in the Florida derby.
