Talented mare Turbo Miss returned to winning form with an impressive victory in the 2017 Frances Tressady Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.

Turbo Miss was expected to press forward in the early stages of the Frances Tressady Stakes, but she jumped at the start and was forced to settle in the second half of the field.

Jockey Craig Williams looked as though he was going to be blocked for a run on Turbo Miss, but she eventually found clear running at the 200 metre mark and she savaged the line late to score a maiden black-type win.

Williams admitted after the race that not everything went to plan in the Frances Tressady Stakes, but he said that he was always confident that daughter of Sebring had the turn-of-foot to be a factor in the finish.

“The instructions were to try and use her gate, but she actually just got a little bit upset before the start and was just up in the air a little bit,” Williams said.

“I had to be kind to her to make sure that we didn’t lose our position without firing her up, but she fired up a little bit.

“She gave me a beautiful run, I was fired up for a fair bit of the straight and she did a really good job to get out.

“She won nice and comfortably in the end, so they have done a great job with her because now she is has black-type on her page.

“It was typical of Darren, he sent her back to 1400 which was where she won her last start.

“Even though she was up in grade they were confident and they just said to ride her to run well.

“She did the rest and has done really well.”

Rising Romance found the line strongly to finish second, but she has still not recorded a race win in Australia since she took out the 2014 edition of the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m).
