Tsaritsa a chance to run in Tattersall’s Club Tiara before Spring Campaign

Sydney’s premiership winning trainer Chris Waller is already mapping out a Spring Carnival campaign for Queensland Guineas winner Tsaritsa but first the filly could line up in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 25.

Waller is seriously considering stepping Tsaritsa up to Group 1 level against the fillies and mares after she scored a solid win against the three year olds in the Group 2 $400,000 MIRVAC Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm last Saturday.

Tsaritsa made it a hat trick of wins and her fourth from seven starts when Hong Kong’s Magic Man Joao Moreira brought her from well back in the field to record a quarter of a lengths win over Denmagic and Sold For Song.

That was the Dane Shadow’s first test at Stakes level and Waller will make a final decision if she is to run again in Queensland when he sees the strength of the Tattersall’s Club Tiara.

“If the market dictates that she is a $5 chance in the Tatts Tiara, we would give it serious consideration,” Waller said.

“I don’t want to lead people in the wrong direction. I am seriously considering it but we will just let the dust settle and see who is likely to be in the race before confirming our plans.”

Even if Tsaritsa runs in the Tattersall’s Club Tiara or not, Waller will give her a short ease up and follow a similar Spring path as his super star Winx did on her way to winning the Group 1 $1m The Star 150th Epsom (1600m) at Randwick during the 2015 Sydney Spring Carnival.

“She would only have a little let-up before the spring, much like what we did with Winx last year,” Waller said.

“She is quite an exciting filly, we have taken our time with her, this was only her seventh start and the first time we have stepped her up to stakes grade.”

Winx wintered in Queensland last year where she began her amazing run of nine wins on the trot with a win in the Group 3 $125,000 XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast followed by a win in the Group 1 $500,000 Treasury Casino & Hotel Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Doomben.

Tsaritsa has risen up quickly through the ranks after winning her first race in a 1400m Warwick Farm BenchMark 67 Handicap on January 7.

Two starts later she was back in the winner’s circle in a 1250m Canterbury BenchMark 67 Handicap on April 27 and then returned to the winner’s stall in a 1400m BenchMark 75 Handicap at Rosehill on May 21 at her next start.
