Travelling foremen Robin Trevor-Jones believes that Trip To Paris needs there to be plenty of pace in the 2015 Caulfield Cup field to be any chance in the $3.15 million race that will be held at Caulfield this weekend.

Trip To Paris has produced all of his best form over lengthy staying trips, highlighted by his win in the Group 1 Gold Cup (4023m) during the 2015 Royal Ascot Meeting, but he won his second race start over 1408 metres and he took out a 2400 metre event at Lingfield earlier this year.
Many racing experts believe that Trip To Paris is far too dour to be competitive in the Caulfield Cup and Trevor-Jones admits that the Champs Elysees gelding would be no chance in the Group 1 this weekend if it develops into a sit and sprint affair.
“He is not a very big horse and to get around the track won’t really worry him, but the worrying bit would be if they to turn in an all-sprint,” Trevor-Jones told Sky Racing HQ.
“If we had a fair gallop the whole way through we would be perfectly ok, I wouldn’t want a very slow pace and then sprint around that bend and up the straight.
“He can race a little bit lazy, but he winds himself in to the race.”
While Trevor-Jones admits that Trip To Paris needs the race to be run to suit to take out the 2015 Caulfield Cup, he couldn’t be happier with the physical condition of the durable stayer ahead of his Australian racing debut.
Trip To Paris worked alongside stablemate Manndawi, who has been set for the Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m) at Geelong on October 21, and Trevor-Jones was very happy with the work of both horses.
“He galloped this morning and it was very pleasing on the eye,” Trevor-Jones said.
“He galloped with a stablemate called Manndawi and they both worked very, very well.
“They stopped the clock in good time, the lads were happy that rode him and I was happy watching it.
“Everything is pretty good at the moment.”
Trip To Paris will press on to the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 3 after he runs in the Caulfield Cup and he will be joined in ‘the race that stops a nation’ by popular stablemate Red Cadeaux.
Trip To Paris is currently available at 2015 Caulfield Cup odds of $31 and will be ridden by Tommy Berry unless Quest For More earns a start in which case he will be ridden by veteran hoop Glyn Schofield.
