Silent Achiever will contest a star-studded barrier trial over 1100 metres at Taupo and trainer Roger James believes that the trial will bring the Group 1 winning mare on for a return to racing in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Silent Achiever has not been seen at the races since she finished fourth behind It’s A Dundeel in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), but she has been back in work for almost three months and James told The New Zealand Racing Desk that he is confident the daughter of O’Reilly will be in excellent shape for the Memsie Stakes next Saturday.

“I am really happy with where we are at with her and I think that her trial tomorrow will really bring her on,” James said.

“She is going to strike the Memsie in the right order.

“She has done 11 weeks work now and I looked at my gallops records for last year and I think that we are spot on.

“She had a bit of a flick and a play coming off the track this morning and she is handling her work really well.”

Silent Achiever will be contesting just the second barrier trial of her racing career, after she won a trial over 1200 metres at Avondale in the lead-up to her autumn campaign and James admits that the barrier trial at Taupo tomorrow was not always in his plans for the six-year-old.

“I didn’t intend too, I didn’t trial her last year and she ran a great race in the Memsie without a trial,” James said.

“I did trial her in the autumn, but we went 1500 first-up.

“She is an older mare now and her work early in the piece just indicated that she was taking a little bit longer to come to hand.

“The fact that Taupo provides such good footing, it was a great alternative so we decided to use it.”

Silent Achiever has been partnered by a range of different jockeys during her previous stints in Australia, including James McDonald, Hugh Bowman, Tommy Berry, Steve Arnold, Glen Boss and Nash Rawiller, but it has been Rawiller that has had the most success on the talented mare.

Rawiller steered Silent Achiever to victory in both the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 The BMW (2400m) during the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and the Hong Kong-based hoop is set to partner the four-time Group 1 winner in most of her race starts this spring.

“Damien Oliver rides her first-up in the Memsie and then Nash takes over the reins again,” James said.

“He has dispensation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club to come back for each of her rides again.”

The Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) will be the major 2014 Spring Racing Carnival goal for Silent Achiever, but James is yet to decide whether she will run in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) or Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m).

Silent Achiever is currently available at 2014 Melbourne Cup odds of $34 and is on top of the Cox Plate betting market with Ladbrokes Australia.
