The James Cummings trained Trekking is one of eleven three year olds among the nominations for The Rosebud with the Australian Turf Club extending the entry deadline until 11am on Tuesday August 8, 2017.

Avdulla is hoping to go kick off the new racing season in winning style after finishing second in the 2016 – 2017 Sydney Jockey’s premiership with 78.5 wins, four and a half behind the unstoppable Hugh Bowman.

Avdulla had ridden plenty of winners for Godolphin last season and gets a good chance to find the winner’s stall again on Trekking.

The Street Cry colt has had one win from three starts when James Doyle was aboard in an 1100m two year old Plate at Rosehill on December 3 last year while Avdulla was in the saddle for a second to Trapeze Artist in the Group 3 $300,000 Mercedes-Benz Canberra Black Opal Stakes (1200m) at Canberra on March 5.

English jockey William Buick then rode Trekking to finish twelfth to She Will Reign in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival.

The Gerald Ryan trained Menari is also resuming after racing in the Autumn, not having started since finishing tenth to Invader in the Group 1 $1m Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick on April 1 while Diamond Tathagata will also be resuming in The Rosebud after spelling following his twelfth in the Inglis Sires.

Tulloch Lodge co-trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have nominated the unbeaten Siege Of Quebec for The Rosebud and the Fastnet Rock colt will be chasing a hat trick after wins in a 1250m Beaumont Maiden on June 27 and in a 1400m two year old Handicap at Rosehill on July 15.

Leading Gold Coast trainer Toby Edmonds has nominated Whypeeo who is coming off a five and a half lengths debut win in a 1005m Ballina two year old Maiden on July 28.

Two first starters have been nominated for The Rosebud, Delight from the Richard Freedman stable and the David Pfieffer trained Readycatgo wwho will join his stalemate I Am Excited.
