Trainer of $5 million Colt Known Saturday

The mystery over who has landed the prize job of training Black Caviar’s $5 million half-brother will end on Saturday.

BC3 Thoroughbreds Sales Manager Simon Marshall confirmed they have already settled on a trainer but said the final boxes need to be ticked before their identity is revealed.

“We want to settle it with all our clients first of all then we will release the name on Saturday,” Marshall told TVN.

“We are very happy with our trainer but we just have to tick off some final details first.”

Marshall said BC3 have been “inundated” with offers from around the world since they paid a record $5 million for the colt.

The yearling is by super stallion Redoute’s Choice from Helsinge, the dam of both Black Caviar and triple Group 1-winning colt All Too Hard.

Team Hawkes, who train All Too Hard, and Black Caviar trainer Peter Moody were believed to be the front-runners for the training gig.

BC3 purchased a horse of identical breeding last year, shelling out $2.6 million for a filly who will race by the name of Belle Couture.

Belle Couture, a two-year-old trained by Danny O’Brien, is expected to make her debut this year.
