Tipsy Jockey Gone For Three

Yet another jockey has been brought before the stewards, this time on a charge of failing a breath test before a race meeting.

Racing and Wagering WA suspended jockey Wille Arnold for three months following the positive reading last Sunday at Geraldton.

While giving no specifics on the exact reading, they simply said Arnold returned a result higher than the allowable 0.02 percent.

He was dismissed of his rides at Geraldton and then pleaded guilty to the charge at a hearing into the incident on Tuesday.

The three month ban will come into effect on March 27, however the penalty could be relaxed enough to allow him to keep riding in both trackwork and official trials providing extra conditions are met such as professional counselling.

In a double whammy for Arnold he also pled guilty to a further charge of possessing a modified safety vest.

He was suspended for a month on that charge but stewards decided he could serve both penalties alongside each other.
