The Tramway Stakes received nineteen entries with trainer Joe Pride also nominating Tiger Tees stablemate Rock Sturdy following the four year old’s last start win over 1400m at Randwick on August 23.

Tiger Tees is racing in outstanding from with two wins from two starts this preparation with the rejuvenated sprinter winning first up down the Flemington straight in the Group 3 $150,000 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) on August 9 before returning to Sydney to lead all of the way to win the Group 2 $175,000 Pro-Ride Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 23.

“He’s won four out of his last eight now and he didn’t look like he was going to win another race there for a while,” Pride said.

Rebel Dane has had one run back from a spell and was sent out the $3.40 favourite before finishing third to Sweet Idea in the Group 2 $175,000 McGrath Estate Agents Missile Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on August 9.

Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller has entered three for the Tramway Stakes, Danchai, Vilanova and Weary who is also entered in the Group 2 $175,000 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) on the same program.

Weary is one of the early fancies in the Group 1 $500,000 The Star Epsom (1600m) at Randwick on October 4 and a win in the Tramway Stakes would see him exempt from the ballot for Sydney’s Spring feature 1600m Handicap.

Last season’s star three year old fillies Rising Romance, Lucia Valentina and Kirrmosa are among the Tramway Stakes nominations.

Sydney Autumn Carnival Group 1 winners Rising Romance (Australian Oaks) and Lucia Valentina (Vinery Stud Stakes) are resuming while 2013 Group 1 Crown Oaks winner Kirramosa has had one run back for a sixth to Sweet Idea in the Missile Stakes.

Peter and Paul Snowden have nominated Gypsy Diamond as the Not A Single Doubt mare heads to the Epsom while Team Hawkes has entered three, Ninth Legion, Zephyron and new stable acquisition Toydini.

Toydini joined the Hawkes Team after the untimely passing of prominent Warwick Farm trainer Guy Walter and has proven himself to be a high quality racehorse with a win at Group 2 level in the $220,000 Schweppes Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley during the 2013 Spring Carnival after finishing third to Boban in The Star Epsom.
