That is the likely scenario ahead of the third leg of Brisbane’s Group 1 sprint treble in the $1.36 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The well-spruiked crop of three-year-olds have dominated the older horses all year but that has been particularly evident at the winter carnival.

Your Song blasted away all-comers by five lengths in the BTC Cup before Epaulette rocked up to steal the show by two lengths in the Doomben 10,000.

The pair form part of a four-strong group of three-year-olds who dominate betting for the final and most prestigious leg of the sprint treble this weekend.

Local hope Sizzling is a $4.60 favourite after rocketing back into form with the help of blinkers in the Queensland Guineas on Saturday. Top Queensland trainer Kelso Wood is sticking with a tried a true formula with the Snitzel colt after he won the Group 1 TJ Smith on a seven-day turnaround last year.

Epaulette, who flashed late to claim his second Group 1 in the Doomben 10,000, is a $6 chance. The Darley product left trainer Peter Snowden feeling confident after an impressive piece of work at Eagle Farm this morning.

But of all the three-year-olds, Epaulette seemingly has the biggest task after being asked to carry 56kg, just two kilograms less than topweight Buffering.

With 54kg and a $7 proposition, the stud-bound Your Song is well placed to end his career as a winner. The Anthony Cummings-trained speedster was all the rage with punters after the BTC Cup but has drifted after fading late to finish sixth in the Doomben 10,000.

BTC Cup-winning jockey Peter Robl returns from suspension to assume the ride and has declared his mount as “the one to beat.”

Also with strong claims is Queensland colt Better Than Ready ($7.50) who is expected to fly home with just 52.5kg on his back. The local was solid in both the BTC Cup and Doomben 10,000 but trainer Kelly Schweida has insisted all campaign that the Stradbroke is his primary goal.
