Thermal Current Out of Blue Diamond

Peter Moody-trained colt Thermal Current has been scratched from Saturday’s Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) due to a hamstring injury.

“Blue Diamond early scratching – Thermal Current on vets with a near hind muscle strain,” Racing Victoria Stewards reported on twitter.

The withdrawal of the son of Exceed And Excel will impact the market as he was considered a strong chance at $7.

Thermal Current has signalled potential in two starts to date, running second on debut at Flemington on January 12 and finishing third in the Listed Blue Diamond Colts and Geldings Preview on Australia Day.

The Blue Diamond field has been reduced to 14 with Mark Kavanagh scratching Talindert Stakes winner Casquets earlier this week after the filly drew the outside barrier.

Peter Moody is still well represented in the Blue Diamond with a three-pronged team now headed by Sebring colt Dissident.

The emerging galloper won the Blue Diamond Preview on debut and ran third in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude on February 9.

Moody’s other runners are Blue Diamond Fillies’ Prelude fourth Quest For Peace and Sebring filly Kona Breeze who has finished second in all three of her career starts including the Listed Chairman’s Stakes on February 2.
