Cranbourne trainer Stephen Theodore is expecting to get plenty of Christmas cheer as he chases wins in two states with his in-form team over the Festival season.

Theodore will head to Caulfield on Boxing Day with last start winner Don’t Get Excited to contest the Listed $120,000 Christmas Stakes (1200m) and he will send Road Trippin to Adelaide on the same day to tackle the Listed $80,000 Adelaide Galvanising Christmas Handicap (1400m) at Morphettville Parks first up.

Don’t Get Excited will drop to 54kgs in the Christmas Stakes and Theodore is confident the four year old will handle the sharp rise in class after winning with 60kgs over 1200m in restricted company at Caulfield last Saturday.

“Don’t’ Get Excited did a big job with 60kgs on Saturday and he will drop to 54kgs in the Christmas Stakes, so that is a real bonus for him,” Theodore told Racing Network.

Theodore tested out Don’t Get Excited in open grade last preparation and the Elvstroem gelding was competitive with a fourth over 1400m at Caulfield on September 21 followed by a fifth in the Listed $120,000 Headquarters Tavern Stakes (1410m) at Flemington on October 5.

And Theodore is expecting Road Trippin to race well following a freshen up after his second in the 1600m Sportingbet Pennisula Cup at Mornington on November 3.

“And Road Trippin is back and going really well,” Theodore said.

“He likes to go into longer races first-up.”.

“He was first-up in a mile race last time and won really well, so we can certainly go to the 1400-metre race in Adelaide first-up and expect him to run well.”

The Cranbourne trainer’s luck in running and he has trained three winners from his last four runners and as well as Don’t Get Excited winning at Caulfield, he saddled up Caitlin’s Spirit for a three length maiden win over 1457m at Kilmore.

He also collected the winner’s cheque when Kiss Me Ketut took out the Benchmark 70 Handicap for the three year old fillies at Moonee Valley on November 29.
