Don’t Doubt Mamma is set to return to the races in the 2016 The Vanity and trainer Tony McEvoy believes that the talented filly is ready to run a good race fresh in the Group 3 event at Flemington on Saturday.

Don’t Doubt Mamma was a slightly inconsistent performer during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival, but she produced her best performance at Flemington and she recorded a dominant victory in the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at the same venue on November 3.
The Not A Single Doubt filly has previously failed to fire first-up over 1000 metres, but McEvoy is hopeful that Don’t Doubt Mamma can produce an improved first-up performance in the 2016 The Vanity.
“She is great,” McEvoy said.
“It is a very deep race, but she loves the track and distance.
“In the past she has always taken a race to find her form, but that may be because I had been running her short.
“I have decided to run her at 1400 metres first-up.
“She will improve out of the race – I will warn everyone out there – but I wouldn’t be running her if I didn’t think she would be competitive.”
Don’t Doubt Mamma has been included in the nominations for the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) that will be held at Flemington on March 5 and at this stage she will press on to the $750,000 event.
McEvoy believes that a mile is Don’t Doubt Mamma’s pet distance and he indicated that she might be even better when she gets out to 1800 metres and beyond.
“She is a strong filly, she relaxes beautifully, she has a great outlook and a great temperament,” McEvoy said.
“She will run a mile and maybe further.”
Don’t Doubt Mamma is currently available at 2016 The Vanity odds of $6 with Ladbrokes and she is on the second line of betting behind undefeated Perth filly Perfect Reflection ($2.50) and Crown Oaks winner Jameka ($3.90).
McEvoy is chasing his first win in the Australian Guineas after previously finishing second with both Alpine Eagle (behind Wandjina in 2015) and Neptune’s Journey (behind Mr. Murphy in 2001) and missing the placings with Barely A Moment (fifth behind Al Maher in 2005).
