The Kingdom Conquers Hollindale

My Kingdom Of Fife

My Kingdom Of Fife

In a super impressive performance My Kingdom Of Fife takes out the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes on the Gold Coast ahead of a quality field of runners.

Since being imported from the UK by Chris Waller My Kingdom Of Fife has been unbeatable, winning the Doncaster Prelude at 150 to 1 and then the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at double figure odds.

In the Hollindale Stakes he was an equal favourite with Heart Of Dreams and Shoot Out but from the jump he looked the winner.

He settled a lot closer to the pace then what we’ve seen from him previously, one out one back from the leader as soon as they settled.

He was also asked to make his move earlier in the piece moving up three wide of the leaders as they rounded the bend into the home straight.

As a result the final furlong explosion we’ve seen previously wasn’t on show however he still had far too much class for the rest of the field, a big wrap given it featured five Group 1 winners.

From here the major Group 1’s of the Brisbane Carnival are a certainty, the Doomben Cup probably the logical step from here.

The other main horses to note in the run were Glass Harmonium which has just arrived from Europe via a stint in Asia.

He showed plenty of quality first up on Aussie soil to stick with My Kingdom Of Fife late and he’s without doubt one to watch as the carnival moves on.

It also wasn’t a bad run for Scenic Shot which didn’t have the smoothest of races but still managed to pop up for third after the jockey had to do plenty of work.

He won’t have lost too many friends either as he goes on for a date with Black Caviar next up.

Excuses have been made for Shoot Out after his first two runs this year and we were promised an improved performance today, however don’t be surprised if you hear more excuses coming from his camp.

In fairness he was held up a bit for a run but regardless it’s unlikely he would ever have challenged the winners.

The fairytale continues for My Kingdom Of Fife though, a horse which Waller has transformed in familiar fashion since buying it off the Queen.
