Tattersall’s Cup winner The Inventor has done the hard work and is ready to step up to 3200m of the Listed $150,000 Queensland Cup at Eagle Farm on July 5.

The Inventor impressed Jacobs Well trainer Bevan Laming when he won in restricted class over 2150m at Ipswich on Ipswich Cup day last Saturday week but knew the five year old needed another run to fit him for the ‘two miles’ of the Queensland Cup.
Laming then decided to run The Inventor in the Group 3 $200,000 Carlton Draught Tattersall’s Cup (2200m) at Eagle Farm last Saturday with Tegan Harrison setting up an all the way win on the $41 outsider.
“The plan was to go to the Queensland Cup after winning last week, but it would have been three weeks between runs, so I decided to back him up,” Laming said after the Tattersall’s Cup win.
“He came here to get the miles in his legs. I did give him some hope though because his time wasn’t far off the Ipswich Cup last week and his sectional was better.”
Laming had been a big fan of Harrison from her early days as an apprentice and was pleased to team up with for a feature race win over the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
“I was one of the first to give her rides in town and what I like most about her is that she’s a thinker,” Laming said.
Harrison was also happy to repay Laming with a winner which added to her Winter Carnival successes.
“It’s a long time since I’ve had much luck for him, so it’s great to win a nice race like this for him,” Harrison said.
Harrison is honing up her front running skills and also rated Brave Ali well when the Tony Gollan trained gelding led all of the way to win the Listed $175,000 Channel 7 Ipswich Cup (2150m).
The leading Gold Coast apprentice also took out the Group 2 $175,000 Greenslopes Private Victory Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on April 26 on Temple Of Boom but the Winter Carnival could have been so much better with the Gollan trained seven year old going down narrowly twice at Group 1 level.
Harrison and Temple Of Boom were run down by stablemate Spirit Of Boom in the Group 1 $650,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1350m) at Doomben on May 24 then two weeks later at Eagle Farm the Sunshine Coast trained River Lad with Damien Oliver aboard mowed down the pair in the final couple of strides in the Group 1 $1.36m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).
