The Peter and Paul Snowden trained That’s A Good Idea produced his usual early speed to lead all of the way to win a 1000m barrier trial at Randwick today.

Tye Angland had That’s Good Idea quickly out of the gates to take the lead in the early stages from the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained  Sweet Redemption who stuck to the inside.

Angland steered That’s A Good Idea towards the middle of the course proper on the home turn and the Flying Spur eight year old went on to record a one length win over the Bjorn Baker trained Lubiton.

Third placegetter Spectroscope with Corey Brown wearing the Godolphin blue colours, found the line under his own steam to produce a handy trial while Sweet Redemption faded in the straight to beat one runner home in ninth position.

That’s A Good Idea hasn’t raced since finishing sixth to Boss Lane in the $100,000 July Sprint (1100m) at Randwick on July 22 and hasn’t found the winner’s stall for over fourteen months since winning an 1100m Handicap at Randwick in May last year.

Four year old mare Lubiton was tested over a staying trip during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival as a three year old fillies but after racing handy in the early stages, faded at the finish to be beaten a long way into twelfth position behind Bonneval in the Group 1 $1m James Boag’s Premium Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on April 8.
