Text’n Hurley is a couple weeks away from running in a barrier trial and then Little will map out a Spring Carnival plan for the lightly raced mare which will probably include two runs over 2000m with a start in the Group 1 $500,000 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 4 a possibility.

“I’ll probably give her a trial at Cranbourne on the 4th of August and then think about running at Flemington on August 9 in the Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m),” Little told Racing Victoria News.

“Everything’s really good with her. She’s got a great attitude and a good temperament.”

“I’d be pretty keen to give her two 2000m races going into a Caulfield Cup.”

Little hatched the plan to aim towards the Group 1 $2.5m BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) at Caulfield on October 18 after Text’n Hurley won the Group 2 $220,000 Sportingbet Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley in March during the Melbourne Autumn Carnival.

Two starts prior the Hard Spun mare won over 2040m against the fillies and mares at Moonee Valley and Little is confident she is capable of running out a strong 2400m.

“We do have a bit of faith in her getting a mile-and-a-half. We were always freshening her up in the past because the suitable Black-type races for mares were over 1600.

“She relaxes beautifully and she doesn’t pull in her races and one of the main reasons we think that she’ll get a mile-and-a-half is her attitude.”

Text’n Hurley has been ultra-consistent in her short career and has recorded five wins and and five placings from twelve starts, earning for connections over $366,000 in prizemoney.

In early Caulfield Cup markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, Text’n Hurley is marked as a $34 chance behind Group 1 Australian Oaks winner Rising Romance who has been installed the favourite at $13.
