Terravista’s win was the second for the day for jockey Hugh Bowman and trainer Joe Pride who took out the first on the program with Rock Sturdy.

Pride was always confident that Terravista would handle the soggy conditions, being a half brother to his Group 1 winning mudlark Tiger Tees.

“He was cantering coming to the corner, “Pride said.

“It’s nice to see him come back and do it. “

Terravista worked his way up through the classes last preparation in the Autumn and collected two Group 3 wins before finishing eleventh to Gordon Lord Byron in the Group 1 $1m George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 29.

The Captain Tio five year old looks to have returned in great order and Pride will head to Melbourne later in the Spring Carnival after another couple of runs in Sydney.

“He has a couple of more starts here in Sydney and I will take him to Melbourne. He will have a run in the Shorts before he goes to Melbourne,” Pride said.

The Group 2 $200,000 The Shorts (1100m) will be run at Randwick on September 20.

Bowman always had Terravista ($2.30 favourite) travelling like a winner in the soft ground and ran away at the finish to record a two lengths win over In Cahoots ($6) with the Chris Waller trained Bull Point ($9) running on strongly for third.

“He handled the conditions today and it was pretty straight forward and he has exciting Spring ahead,” Bowman said.
