The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt will be sidelined for up to six months before a decision will be made as to whether he will continue his racing career or head to stud.

“Please be advised that a representative of the Gai Waterhouse stable has informed Racing NSW Stewards that PROISIR has suffered a tendon injury and will now be spelled,” a Racing NSW statement said.

“As a result, Proisir will take no further part in the BMW Sydney Carnival.”

Proisir showed he was on track for a big autumn when running third to Pierro in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes and second to It’s A Dundeel in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas.

The son of Choisir stormed on to the scene last autumn with three victories to begin his career before finishing runner-up in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and eighth in the Cox Plate.

His three wins and three minor placings from seven starts have seen him collect nearly $500,000 in prizemoney.
