Temple Of Boom was available at BTC Cup odds of $8 after it was reported that there was heavy rain forecast for Brisbane in the lead-up to the Doomben meeting on Saturday, but the rain has stayed away and the odds of proven wet-trackers Temple Of Boom and Tiger Tees have subsequently lengthened.

Temple Of Boom is one of only two horses that are taking winning form into the BTC Cup after he narrowly held-off half-brother Spirit Of Boom to score his first race win in over two years and give jockey Tegan Harrison her maiden win at Group level in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on April 26.

Harrison told Sky Racing HQ that she was delighted simply to have the chance to ride Temple Of Boom in a big race and said that trainer Tony Gollan got his instructions exactly right in the lead-up to the race.

“It was very exciting for me,” Harrison said.

“I was privileged just to get the ride on the horse let alone win the race and I was a very happy girl.

“He just said to me that it was all about having the horse in a rhythm and having him breathing properly.

“He said that I didn’t have to worry about riding pretty and if I had those two things under control that he would run a good race for me and he was right.”

Temple Of Boom was caught three wide at times during the running of the Victory Stakes after jumping from barrier one, but will step out from the inside barrier in the BTC Cup this weekend.

Harrison said that she will still be focusing on allowing Temple Of Boom to settle into his rhythm, but believes that the inside gate is an advantage for the Piccolo entire.

“I think that it is an advantage,” Harrison said.

“From one he is going to be able to get into a rhythm and get his breathing right, but be covering less ground.

“It is a very small field, I haven’t ridden in a lot of these group races before, and it is actually a lot easier because of the field size.”

Buffering remains a clear favourite in 2014 BTC Cup betting markets, at odds of $2.20, from Spirit Of Boom ($5.50) and Snitzerland ($8), while there has been a sprinkling of support for Peron who has been backed into 2014 BTC Cup odds of $21.
