In-form mare Danish Twist will now head to Queensland for the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 25 after collecting her fourth win on the trot at Randwick last Saturday.
Danish Twist came from near the tail of the field to beat Mount Nebo by two lengths in the Listed $100,000 Sydney Markets Limited June Stakes (1100m) at Randwick and trainer Kris Lees’ stable manager Lucas Miller suggested the mare would now head to Queensland to chase a Group 1 victory.
“She is a gem of a mare,’’ Miller said.
“Kris took her up to the farm after her win at Scone and freshened her up for a few days.
“She was very good. She keeps finding ‘grand finals’ and just keeps winning. She has earned her chance at a Group 1 at Eagle Farm in two weeks.’’
The Tattersall’s Club Tiara for the fillies and mares is the last Group 1 for the season and always attracts a high class field to end the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Danish Twist’s winning run began with a victory in the $400,000 The Provincial Championships Final (1400m) at Randwick on the second day of ‘The Championships’ on April 9 followed by a win in 1300m BenchMark 85 Handicap at Hawkesbury on April 30.
The Dane Shadow mare then continued her winning run by taking out the Group 3 $200,000 Godolphin Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone on May 14 before heading back to Randwick.
Danist Twist was the second leg of a winning Randwick double for Lees who had earlier in the day saddled up Rustic Melody to win the Eric Kime BenchMark 84 Handicap over 1400m.
Danish Twist has been a great money spinner for her connections with eight wins from seventeen starts with prizemoney earnings of over $700,000.
