Sydney Rewarded As Black Caviar Claims Win 12

Black Caviar

Black Caviar extends her unbeaten winning streak with victory in the TJ Smith Stakes

The TJ Smith Stakes was over in a flash and there’s no prizes for guessing which horse claimed victory in the 1200m event.

Black Caviar was quiet and composed before the race, quiet and composed during the race and then when Nolen said go she hit the line with the pace she’s become renowned for.

For the first time she did have the race taken to her though and the effort from Hay List was streaks ahead of the next closest runner.

He went right to the front from barrier 10 and put on a solid pace taking control from the outset.

As they rounded the bend Hay List had a couple of lengths on Black Caviar who ran wide and probably gave up an extra length without needing to.

It looked like Hay List had a chance for a split second but Nolen gave Black Caviar a slap and she responded instantly.

Hay List didn’t give in though as he tried to respond but she had just too much class winning the race by just over two lengths.

In a testament to Hay List he was a massive five lengths clear of the third place Triple Honour and any other year he would have been the TJ Smith Stakes champion.

It’s all about Black Caviar though, a super mare which delivered New South Wales exactly what they came to see.

From here providing she pulls up ok it’s off to the Brisbane Winter Carnival for win number 13 and you can guarantee Queenslanders will be out in force.

In a teaser after the race trainer Peter Moody hinted that she could probably cope with an increase in distance as well.

It’d be a tough call to have her step away from a distance she’s so dominant at but a tantalising prospect nonetheless.
