Pariah is one of fifteen sprinters nominated for the William Reid Stakes and will be having his first race start since finishing ninth to Trapeze Artist in the Group 1 $1m De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill during the 2017 Sydney Spring Carnival.

The Redoute’s Choice colt is also nominated for the Group 1 $700,000 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday and co-trainer Peter Snowden said that if the forecast rain arrived in Sydney later in the week, Pariah would be heading to The Valley on Friday night.

“Racing here (Sydney) is our preferred option but if we get the rain they are forecasting mid-week, it might force our hand to come down,” Snowden told racing.com.

“The rain is supposed to come from Tuesday so I’ll probably make the decision on Wednesday morning and if we do go down (to Melbourne) Blake Shinn will ride him at Moonee Valley.”

Pariah showed plenty of talent during his two year old year and early three year old season and Snowden said that he has the colt primed for a bold first up performance where ever he runs.

“Yes he’s going well,” Snowden said.

“We’re very happy with him and I think we’ve got him in the right order to run well where ever he goes.”

Pariah has had tywo barrier trials in preparation for his return to the race track and was impressive in winning a 1030m Rosehill trial on March 8.

Last year’s Golden Slipper Stakes winner She Will Reign and the Lindsay Park trained Catchy and Tulip are the other three year olds set to take on the older horses at weight for age in the William Reid Stakes.

She Will Reign returned from a spell to score a comfortable win in the $250,000 Inglis Sprint (1100m) at Warwick Farm on February 10 but was then always well back in the field when tenth to Russian Revolution in the Group 1 $500,000 Ladbrokes Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield on February 24.

Last season’s Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy has failed to fire at two runs in the Autumn with a sixth in the Oakleigh Plate followed by an eleventh to stablemate Redkirk Warrior in the Group 1 $1.25m Lexus Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 10.

Her stablemate Tulip has had mixed form since resuming and after winning second up in the Group 3 $150,000 Carrazzo Consulting Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) at The Valley on February 23 finished fifth to Happy Clapper in the Group 1 $500,000 Bisley Workwear Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick on March 10.

The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have also nominated Derryn, Fuhryk and Thronum for the William Reid Stakes.

She Will Reign has been installed as the early $5 favourite for the William Reid Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of the Mick Price trained Secret Agenda at $6 and Manikato Stakes winner Hey Doc and Pariah at $7.

Early market order for the 2018 William Reid Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au: $5 She Will Reign, $6 Secret Agenda, $7 Hey Doc, Pariah, $8 Rock Magic, $10 Bons Away, Snitty Kitty, $11 Catchy, Hellbent, Supido, Tulip, $13 Fell Swoop, $21 Fuhryk, $26 Thronum, $41 Derryn.
