Sweynesse has not been seen at the races since he finished an unlucky eighth in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 25, but he made his first public appearance this campaign when he finished fourth behind Super Tycoon in a barrier trial at Rosehill Gardens on January 20 before he finished in the same position in a star-studded barrier trial over 1030 metres at the same venue on February 3.

Godolphin have confirmed that Sweynesse will start his 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 21 before he returns to the highest level of racing in the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Royal Randwick on March 7 and the stable are keen to give him a testing gallop to make sure he is at close to peak fitness for his return to racing.

Sweynesse started his racing career with a win at Kembla Grange in May of last year and he was sent to the spelling paddock before he returned to racing with a win over First Seal and Hampton Court in the Early Quaddie Handicap (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30.

The Lonhro colt made his debut at Stakes level with a comfortable win in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle on September 17 and he took out the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 27 before he suffered his maiden defeat when third in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on October 11.

Sweynesse will be partnered in the barrier trial by James McDonald and is set to gallop alongside stablemate Lassitude.

Lassitude is yet to make his debut at Group level, but he recorded dominant wins in both the Cleaver Greene Plate (1800m) at Royal Randwick on November 4 and the Betting Season Handicap (1900m) at Canterbury on November 14 and he has been included in the nominations for both the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 7 and the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Royal Randwick on April 4.

Sweynesse has also been included in the nominations for the Australian Derby as well as the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) and Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m).
