Trainer Mick Kent is confident that stable star Supido has found his best form ahead of Friday night’s Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley.

Supido has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far and resumed this time for a smart win in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m), before failing to fire when fifth in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) on September 9th.

Kent told AAP that he was reasonably disappointed with the horse’s efforts last time out, but conceded that the race probably wasn’t run to suit.

Luke (Nolen) thought they didn’t go very hard in the race and so he got moving early and was pushed off the track,” Kent said.

“But I was a bit disappointed with the horse’s effort.

“I thought he was better than that.

“I appreciate it’s hard to run those horses down when you give them a start like that.

“But I kept him very fresh for the race thinking he might have needed to be fresh, but I might not have done enough with him.

“He loomed but just didn’t quite finish it off. His times were as good as the winner’s apart from the first furlong.”

Supido debuted for Kent during the spring of 2014, but has largely been kept to light duties throughout his career and has subsequently posted seven wins and three minors through only fourteen competitive starts.

Resuming in 2016 for four consecutive wins before placing third in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m), the Sebring entire failed to beat a runner home in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) first-up this year, but responded with a smart performance for third in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m).

Supido is currently available at 2017 Moir Stakes odds of $17 with online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
