Super South African Sprinter JJ The Jet Plane’s Future In Jeopardy

South African sprinter JJ The Jet Plane’s international campaign has come to an abrupt halt after he suffered a serious leg injury while completing track work in Dubai.

The talented seven-year-old suffered an injury to his near fore leg while preparing for the Krisflyer International Sprint in Singapore.

JJ The Jet Plane will now be taken back to his home town in South Africa for treatment.

The horse’s trainer, Lucky Houdalakis, is incredibly disappointed that this injury has occurred at the peak of JJ The Jet Plane’s career.

Houdalakis’ wife Natalie told of the injury JJ The Jet Plane was diagnosed with.

“JJ has unfortunately suffered an injury in track work in Dubai whilst preparing for the KrisFlyer International Sprint in May,” Ms Houdalakis said.

“He has suffered a core lesion of his medial lower suspensory of his near foreleg.”

Ms Houdalakis is hoping that JJ The Jet Plane will be able to make a full recovery.

“Although not life threatening or permanently career ending, it is however serious enough to put an end to his international campaign,” Ms Houdalakis said.

“”We have decided that in the best interest of JJ’s welfare, he is to return home to South Africa as soon as possible, where we can hopefully nurture him back to full health once again.”

JJ The Jet Plane has cemented himself as one of the world’s best sprinters, winning 14 of his 26 race starts, including the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint.

The horse has accrued a total of $A2.14 million in prize money during his successful career.
