2017 Super Saturday Results: Humidor Wins Australian Cup

The 2017 Super Saturday results will be updated all afternoon at horseracing.com.au and we are set for a simply outstanding day of racing at Flemington.

There are two Group 1 races on the Super Saturday card and both the Australian Cup and the Newmarket Handicap are fascinating betting affairs.

Spieth is currently a narrow favourites in the 2017 Newmarket Handicap betting market with Ladbrokes, but he will face stiff competition from the likes of Extreme Choice ($4.80), Star Turn ($6.50), Sheidel ($7.50) and Illustrious Lad ($8.50).

The Australian Cup is just as competitive and Humidor ($3.90) is locked in a battle for favouritism from Jameka ($4), Stratum Star ($6.50) and The United States ($6.50).

Race 9 (5:20pm) – $100,000 James Boag’s Premium Handicap Results

Rocket Tommy showed plenty of speed to record an impressive win in the James Boag’s Handicap at Flemington this afternoon.

Rocket Tommy drew the outside gate, but he was able to ping the gates and raced across to take the lead on the inside of the track.

He did plenty of work early, but he never looked like being beaten and he is now a chance of heading towards a race like The Goodwood.

Humidor finished over the top of a gallant Jameka to win the 2017 Australian Cup at Flemington this afternoon.

Damian Lane elected to settle Humidor at the tail of the field in the early stages of the Australian, while Jameka was forced to do plenty of work to settle in second.

Jameka kicked clear at the top of the straight, but Humidor was absolutely flying late and he went past the Caulfield Cup winner in the final 50 metres to record a maiden win in Australia.

Redkirk Warrior led from start to finish to record an historic victory in the 2017 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington this afternoon.

No horse had won a Newmarket Handicap first-up for exactly 100 years, but that did not stop Redkirk Warrior who was nothing short of outstanding.

The victory of Redkirk Warriors delivered in-form jockey Regan Bayliss a maiden Group 1 victory and gave the Lindsay Park team yet another feature race win.

Circular held-off a flying Zasorceress to win a thrilling edition of the 2017 Matron Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.

Circular looked as though she had the race won when she took up the running from Miss Rose De Lago at the 150 metres, while Zasorceress was held-up for a run.

Zasorceress was eventually able to find clear running and she charged at Circular late, but the Godolphin filly held to claim victory.

I Am A Star returned to winning form with a very narrow victory over Ellicazoom in the 2017 Kewney Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.

I Am A Star went into the Kewney Stakes as a dominant favourite and she looked like the winner at the 300 metre mark, but talented Western Australian filly Ellicazoom came with her in the final stages.

They went to the post together, but it was I Am A Star that got her nose down at the right time to claim the win.

I Am A Star will have her next race start in the Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley in a fortnight before she potentially heads to Sydney for The Championships.

Race 4 (2:05pm) – $200,000 Group 2 Sires’ Produce Stakes Results

Sircconi held-off Aspect to record a very narrow victory in the 2017 Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.

Linda Meech took up the running on Sircconi in the early stages of the Sires’ Produce Stakes and that proved to be the winning decision.

Aspect charged at Sircconi in the last 100 metres of the Sires’ Produce Stakes, but Sircconi clung on to claim victory.

Eshtiraak missed the start and he was never able to get into the race.

Race 3 (1:25pm) – $120,000 Listed Incognitus Stakes Results

Falcool upstaged a quality field to win the 2017 Incognitus Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.

The field split into two sections in the early stages of the Incognitus Stakes and it was the inside division that had the edge.

The well-backed Ken’s Dream loomed as the winner, but Hugh Bowman timed his run on Falcool to perfection to claim victory.

Race 2 (12:50pm) – $120,000 My Kitchen Rules Handicap Results

Aloft controlled the race from the outset to take out the 2017 My Kitchen Rules Handicap at Flemington this afternoon.

Ben Melham went straight to the lead in the My Kitchen Rules Handicap and he was able to get away with some soft sectionals, but he still looked like a sitting duck at the top of the straight.

Dodging Bullets and Hursley looked like they were going to get past Aloft in the final stages, but Hursley was blocked for a run and Dodging Bullets was unable to get past his rival.

Top Me Up led from start to finish to win the opening race at Flemington on Super Saturday.

Dwayne Dunn took Top Me Up straight to the lead in the early stages of the race and got into a lovely rhythm.

Dunn asked Top Me Up for an extra effort at the top of the straight and he quickly put a gap on his rivals to claim an impressive win.
