Super Cash Capable of Winning Kevin Heffernan Stakes

Super Cash faces a big task in overcoming the talented Kevin Heffernan Stakes field, but trainer Andrew Noblett could not be more pleased with the mare’s condition leading into the Group 3 race at Sandown on Saturday.

Super Cash stormed home to record a comfortable win in the Alfred Hospital BM90 (1100m) first-up at Caulfield on September 24th, before a gutsy run for fourth in the Group 3 Sensis Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on Derby Day.

Noblett concedes that the daughter of Written Tycoon will need to produce her best if she is to return to winning form on Saturday, but believes that she is well equipped to lay a great account for herself in the Kevin Heffernan Stakes.

“It will be a hard race to win, particularly at the conditions of weight-for-age,” Noblett told Racing Ahead.

“She’d be getting a fair bit more weight off some of those horse up the top if it was a handicap.

“It’s probably the best available race for her before she has a short break.

“We’ll go there, we’re confident she’ll run really well, she’s in great order, is drawn nicely and 1300m won’t be a problem either.

“I think she’ll be very competitive. I think Under The Louvre and those horses up the top are going to be hard to beat, especially at weight-for-age level.”

Ending her debut preparation a credible seventh in the 2015 edition of the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m), Super Cash resumed this year for third in the Group 3 Typhoon Tracy (1200m) before breaking through for a maiden black type win in the Listed Goodwood Racecourse Trophy (1100m).

Running fifth amongst classy company in the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) on Day 1 of The Championships, Super Cash placed third in the Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) and concluded her autumn preparation sixth in the Group 2 Euclase Stakes (1200m).

Super Cash will jump from the ideal barrier 6 with Craig Williams in the saddle, and has been charged with carrying 57kgs in the Kevin Heffernan Stakes.

The four-year-old is currently available at 2016 Kevin Heffernan Stakes odds of $9.50 with Ladbrokes Australia.
