Sunlight has been installed as one of the early favourites for the Black Caviar Lightning at Ladbrokes.com.au and trainer Tony McEvoy said that the Zoustar filly is primed to run a mighty race.

A win in a recent 800m Werribee jump out by Sunlight has boosted the confidence of McEvoy for the filly’s return to the race track.

“She’s here to win for sure,” McEvoy told Racing.com on Tuesday.

“She’s come off that Werribee trial in great order and a couple of gallops since then at Flemington have been sharp and she’s pulling up really well.

“She had a nice strong piece of work (on Tuesday) and the thing I really loved was her action, she stretched out beautifully.

“She’s more forward this time than she was first up last prep when we ran second to Nature Strip, much more forward.

“Because of her style and her shape she will improve out of Saturday but I’m very comfortable with where she’s at going into the Lightning Stakes.”

Sunlight has already shown she is at home down the Flemington straight with a last start win in the Group 1 $1m Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on the first day of the 2018 Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Sunlight is one of fifteen sprinters nominated for the Black Caviar Lightning and in early betting at Ladbrokes.com.au the filly is on the second line of betting at $4.60 behind the $4.40 favourite Graff from the Kris Lees stable.

The James Cummings trainer Osborne Bulls is also well fancied in the betting at $5 just ahead of Graff’s stablemate In Her Time at $6.
