Trainer Toby Edmonds revealed earlier in the week that Sundance had been found with a foot abscess and he was forced to scratch the son of I Am Invincible after the condition of the foot continued to deteriorate.

Sundance was available at 2016 Magic Millions Classic odds of $41, but was far from the worst roughie in the race after producing three credible performances since he made his racing debut.

He finished second behind Emtevee Queen on debut in the Sky Racing Handicap (1050m) at Doomben on November 28 and he stamped himself as a horse to follow with a dominant five lengths victory in the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1050m) at the same venue on December 12 before he finished a credible fifth in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Boxing Day.

The withdrawal of Sundance means that Les Ross-trained Rainy Day Woman will receive a start in the Magic Millions Classic, with Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne in the saddle.

Rainy Day Woman made her racing debut with a fourth place finish in the Peter Morrison Maiden (900m) at the Gold Coast on October 14, but she produced improved performances to finish second behind Candika in The Cock Electrical And Communcations Handicap (1050m) at Doomben on October 31 and second behind leading Magic Millions Classic contender Zelady’s Night Out in the Flexi Membership Handicap (1050m) at the same venue on November 14.

The I Am Invincible filly produced another credible performance when she finished fourth in the Sky Racing Handicap (1050m) at Doomben on November 28, but nothing went right when she failed to beat home a single runner in the Yalumba Handicap (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on January 2.

Racing Queensland stewards revealed yesterday that they had some concerns over the physical condition of both Dieters and Conchita and they will undergo another veterinary examination before they are cleared to take their place in the 2016 Magic Millions Classic.

Rainy Day Woman is currently available at 2016 Magic Millions Classic odds of $151 with Ladbrokes, while Capitalist ($1.70) remains a dominant favourite from Nikitas ($11), Niccolance ($11), Zelady’s Night Out ($12), Conchita ($17), Slumber Party ($17), Dieters ($18) and Candika ($19).
