Leading Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman is expecting ATC Oaks winner Streama to be competitive when she takes on More Joyous in the Listed $100,000 Sharp Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill tomorrow.

Streama is having her first start as a four year old after taking out the Group 1 $550,000 Patinack Farm Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on April 21 and Bowman will be looking for improvement heading into the rest of the Spring.
“She is going to improve from the run, she has been set for the Myer Classic and we expect her to sprint well fresh,” Bowman said.
Bowman has been riding the mare in some of her trackwork and barrier trials and has noticed a sharp improvement in her work over the last week.
“I was really pleased with her on Tuesday morning but up until then she had been lacking the enthusiasm that she has shown at this stage in her last two preps.”
Bowman isn’t concerned that the spark has been missing from Streama’s trackwork but is more than happy with her attitude and action and trainer Guy Walter will work her along steady aiming towards the Group 1 $500,000 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on November 3.
“I’m not concerned about that because her attitude is excellent and her action is 100 per cent so I think she is a bit more mature and relaxed ,” Bowman added.
“She’s come on since the trial and her coat is starting to come out.”
Gai Waterhouse has selected the Shearco as More Joyous’ Spring Carnival starting point and the eight time Group 1 winner looks unbeatable under the set weights and penalty conditions for the fillies and mares stakes.
Streama, the winner of two Group 1s restricted to three year old fillies has to carry 59kg, the same weight as More Joyous has after being undefeated in the Autumn including Group 1 wins in the $2m BMW Doncaster Mile (1600m) and the $500,000 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) both at Randwick.
Randwick trackwork clocker Craig Tompson has seen a lot of More Joyous and is adamant that the six year old mare is in the best physical shape he has seen at the start of any preparation.
“She’s in the best shape physically I’ve ever seen her going into a preparation,” Tompson said.
“It’s been a bit of a talking point at the track with everyone thinking the same.”
“The older she gets the better she seems to be. Her last prep was probably her best ever and she looks better again this time so who knows what’s ahead of her.”
“She just worked within herself galloping over 1200 in 1.26.0, finishing off in 12.2 seconds under double wraps,” Tompson reported on Tuesdays’ workout.
“She’ll give everybody a thrill on Saturday. She’ll win.”
More Joyous is hovering around the $1.18 mark in early markets for the Sheraco with Streama on the next line of betting at $13.
