The 2015 Caulfield Cup field has been released and a capacity field of 18 stayers and four emergencies have been included in the acceptances for the Group 1 event that will be held at Caulfield on Saturday.

Admire Rakti delivered Japan their first win in the Caulfield Cup when he stormed home from the tail of the field to record and two more Japanese stayers are set to contest the 2015 edition of the race.

Fame Game has been touted as a leading contender for both the Melbourne Cup and the Caulfield Cup since connections confirmed that he would be sent to Australia and the Heart’s Cry entire has form around some of the best stayers in Japan.

Zac Purton won the Caulfield Cup on Admire Rakti and he has been booked to ride the five-year-old, but the talented hoop revealed yesterday that he believes Fame Game could be too dour to win the Caulfield Cup.

Fame Game is joined in the Caulfield Cup field by fellow Japanese stayer Hokko Brave, who is set to be ridden by Craig Williams this weekend.

Hokko Brave has not recorded a race win since he took out the October Stakes in October of 2013, but he has more established form over 2400 metres than Fame Game and Williams is very bullish about his chances.

Another international galloper that is set to contest the 2015 Caulfield Cup is Sir Michael Stoute-trained Snow Sky, who will carry the equal top weight of 58 kilograms.

Snow Sky has been a consistent performer at the highest level of racing since he was a two-year-old and he stamped himself as a leading contender for the Caulfield Cup when he took out the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup (2816m) at York on May 15 and the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (2414m) at Royal Ascot on June 20.

Trip To Paris is another horse that was successful at the 2015 Royal Ascot Meeting when he took out the Group 1 Gold Cup (4023m) and he finished a credible third in the Group 2 Goodwood Cup (3218m) on July 30 before he failed to fire in the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup (3299m) at York on August 21.

Rounding out the internationally-trained gallopers in the Caulfield Cup is Quest For More, who is currently the first emergency and will need a scratching to earn a start in the race.

Mongolian Khan has been touted as a Caulfield Cup contender since he took out both the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) and Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) during the autumn and he moved to the top of betting with a string of impressive performances this preparation.

The Holy Roman Emperor entire started his 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a credible seventh in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 12 and he hit the line strongly to finish fourth in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 26 before he savaged the line to finish third behind Criterion and Happy Trails in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on Saturday.

The Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) is always a key lead-up race to the Caulfield Cup and that will be no different in 2015 as a number of horses are set to back-up this weekend.

Turnbull Stakes winner Preferment was not included in the 2015 Caulfield Cup field and he will be saved for the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 24, but runner-up Royal Descent, placegetter Set Square, Chris Waller-trained Who Shot Thebarman, Rosehill Guineas winner Volkstok’n’barrell, Australian Oaks winner Gust Of Wind, last year’s Caulfield Cup runner-up Rising Romance, Kris Lees-trained Protectionist and Queensland Derby winner Magicool are all set to run in the $3.15 million race this weekend.

The 2015 Caulfield Cup field is rounded out by German import Our Ivanhowe, Sydney Cup winner Grand Marshal, last year’s beaten favourite Lucia Valentina, Godolphin-owned Hauraki and Naturalism Stakes winner Magnapal, while Quest For More, Complacent, Bondeiger and Dibayani are the four emergencies.
