Trainer Peter Snowden will set Shooting To Win for the Caulfield Guineas after the three year old demolished the field in the Group 2 $200,000 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill today.

Shooting To Win was last to leave the barriers but Tim Clark was able to sneak up along the fence and gain a great trailing position behind the leaders in the middle stages of the race.
The Northern Meteor colt had put the writing on the board with an eye catching third to Hallowed Crown in the Group 1 $1m De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on September 13.
Back on a good racing surface today Shooting To Win was able to show his tremendous turn of foot to run away from Scissor Kick and the early leader Valentia and Snowden and will now take aim at the Group 1 $1m BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 11.
“We will have to seriously think about it hard now and I’ll have a good talk to Penny and Trev tonight and see what their thoughts are,” Snowden said.
“They have a very special horse and they probably should give him the opportunity to go to that next level.”
“This fellow is such a tough horse, he’s got untapped ability so we will see what happens.
Snowden, who trains in partnership with his son Paul, said that Shooting To Win is still in the learning mode and there is still a lot of improvement to come.
“He did a few things wrong today but he did end up getting a lovely run,” Snowden said.
“He was very dominant at the end. He quickened really nicely right to the and it’s great to see.
“It’s what I wanted to see because he has shown us plenty at home and it’s just been a very slow learning curve in putting it all together on race day, but today was very good.”
“He is a heavy horse and these soft tracks you can get right into them. But on top of the ground today he let go really well.
Shooting To Win started at the good odds of $4 and was able to secure the run up along the rails to score by three lengths over race favourite Scissor Kick ($1.85) who was caught three wide after Tye Angalnd was unable to slot in anywhere in the eight horse field.
The Gai Waterhouse trained Valentia ($5) led in the early sections and battled on well for third.
