Brisbane Winter Carnival find Srikandi and dual Group 1 winner Red Tracer head the nominations for the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm Saturday.

The nominations for the last Group 1 of the season have attracted twenty-five fillies and mares and is loaded with talent including Group 1 winners Driefontein and Steps In Time.
Srikandi exceeded all expectations from Caulfield trainer Ciaron Maher and was sent out the $6 favourite before running third to River Lad in the Group 1 $1.36m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 7.
The Dubawi filly was undefeated from her three previous Winter Carnival starts which included wins in the Listed $150,000 Turangga Farm Silk Stocking (1200m) at the Gold Coast on May 3, the Listed $100,000 Designline Graphics Juanmo Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on May 17 and the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 24.
Maher has reported that Srikandi has come through the tough Stradbroke Handicap in fine order and will give her one more run in Brisbane before heading a break.
“She has come through great and is very bright and well,” Maher said.
“If it wasn’t a Group 1 she wouldn’t run, but we’re here, she’s well and it’s a Group 1 for fillies and mares, so there’s not really much reason to miss the race.”
Chris Waller has nominated three mares for the Tattersall’s Tiara and as well as Red Tracer will run Catkins and She’s Clean.
Red Tracer will be attempting to win back to back Tattersall’s Tiara and will strip a lot fitter after a first up tenth to River Lad in the Stradbroke Handicap.
While Catkins had to be scratched from the Group 2 $200,000 VIRBAC Animal Health Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 7 after hurting herself in her stable but Waller is confidence that she will be fit to for the Group 1 for the fillies and mares.
She’s Clean would have to improved dramatically to be in contention after being unplaced at her two runs during the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Gai Waterhouse has nominated two and as well as Group 1 Sportingbet Classic winner Driefontein, has entered smart filly Cosmic Endeavour who has won three of her last four starts including a last start win in the Group 2 $200,000 VIRBAC Animal Health Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 7.
Caulfield trainer Mick Price is considering backing up Jazz Song after her win in the Listed $100,000 Sky Racing Gai Waterhouse Classic (1350m) at Ipswich last Saturday and Randwick trainer Les Bridge has entered the inform Avoid Lightning who will be taking a huge step up in class after winning the Listed $100,000 June Stakes (1100m) at Randwick on June 7.
