Rising star Arcadia Queen is likely to be set for some high ranking targets during the 2019 Spring Carnival after she trounced her older rivals in the Group 1 $1m Magic Millions Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot in Perth last Saturday.

The Bob Peters owned, Grant and Alana Williams trained Arcadia Queen was only having her sixth race start when she powered away from her opposition to record a four and a half lengths win over the local war horse Material Man.

Peters will now spell the West Australian trained three year old filly with intentions of setting her for a 2019 Spring Carnival campaign that will likely include a run in the Group 1 $5m Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley on October 26 or in the $7.5m The Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill on November 2 for the four year olds.

Racing New South Wales announced in early December that they would be programming a new race exclusively for four year olds with the inaugural running of The Golden Eagle and Peters sees that as a likely target for Aracdia Queen who will being turning four next August.

“It sounds good. If you’ve got a four-year-old it sounds very enticing,’’ Peters told Racing New South Wales News Desk.

“I think we could handle that.’’

“I wouldn’t imagine we’d do anything in the autumn but you never know.’’

“We’re half way through December and the autumn (carnival) starts in February. It’s her first campaign, she needs a spell, and the timing says we can’t go there.

“The filly will tell us what she wants to do.’’

Arcadia Queen made it five wins from six race starts with her dominant victory in the Kingston Town Classic and Peters was a little surprised how easily she ran away from her rivals.

“I haven’t seen a win like that for a long time,’’ Peters said.

Ladbrokes.com.au has listed Arcadia Queen as the $5 second pick in the 2019 The Golden Eagle behind Chris Waller’s Caulfield Guineas winner The Autumn Sun who has been installed as the $2.80 favourite.

Early betting for the 2019 Cox Plate also has The Autumn Sun as the favourite at $6 while Arcadia Queen is on the second line of betting at $11.
