Trainer Tony Gollan won his first Group 1 on home turf with Spirit Of Boom winning the Group 1 $650,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1350m) at Doomben today.

And the Eagle Farm trainer wrapped up a dream result with Temple Of Boom running second with the Robert Heathcote trained Buffering battling on for third after setting the pace making it an all Queensland finish
Gollan was very excited as he faced the media in the winner’s circle after he had just trained the quinella in the Group 1 weight for age Winter Carnival feature sprint with Spirit Of Boom ($4.80 equal favourite) and Temple Of Boom ($26).
“It’s a dream come true,” Gollan said.
“To win a Group 1 here in Brisbane and I’m stuck for words.”
“There are two great horses to train. I have taken them everywhere, they just keep turning up.”
“When they get the runs to suit like they did today, they are just hard to beat.”
“I am just so proud of the two horses and all the team at home who help look after them.”
Tegan Harrison had Temple Of Boom travelling in third spot behind the Buffering while Michael Rodd was sitting right behind her on Spirit Of Boom.
“I was hoping Temple would hurry up cause I could see Spirit really travelling behind him to be honest and Tegan knew what she was doing and Michael just followed her really.”
“He took the narrowest of runs, he is a six year old stallion and they don’t usually take those sort of runs, they like to get to the outside.”
“He’s brave and gallant in career best form and it is so deserving for him to get a Group 1 here because he is off to stud.”
“One more run or this might even be his last run.”
Gollan said that he wait to decide on a run for Spirit Of Boom in the Group 1 $1.36m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm in a fortnight until after the weights are released next week.
“We will see what the weights do and what the handicapper does.”
“He has done his job now but the Stradbroke would be a dream farewell but we are going to savoir this and see what happens during the week.
Buffering ($4.80 equal favourite) was back on his game today and flew the gates with Damian Browne taking him straight to the front but after keeping the lead until the 100m but couldn’t hold off the strong finish of the two Gollan trained sprinters.
