Gerald Ryan is pleased with Spill The Beans’ condition, and is confident the talented colt will prove very hard to beat in Saturday’s Group 2 QTC Cup (1200m) at Eagle Farm Racecourse.

Spill The Beans stamped himself as one to watch in 2016 when returning with a strong performance for success in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) on February 6th before producing another spirited performance for fourth in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) a fortnight later.
Going somewhat amiss when eighth in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) on Day 2 of The Championships, the Snitzel colt has since won the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) and finished a close second on unfavourable conditions in the Scone Guineas (1400m).
Ryan told Racing Ahead Spill The Beans has thrived since arriving in Brisbane, and he does not believe a wide draw will hinder the three-year-old’s chances of success in the 2016 QTC Cup.
“I was disappointed how the track played at Scone – Over the two days not one leader won,” Ryan said.
“He was only just pipped on the line by the horse I thought would be the one to beat, she wa the one that ran third to us in the Hawkesbury Guineas the race before.
“I can be a bit forgiving of him from that race and he’s done well since.
“He’s going to jump from 13 and roll forward. If you go back and look at his form card, his best runs have been when he’s drawn out wide.
“The only blemish was in the Arrowfield – he drew barrier 2 and got covered up straight away. I just think the horse appreciate drawing out where he doesn’t just rush the gates but just roll forward and find his rhythm.”
Spill The Beans has posted a commendable career total of four wins and three minors through ten career starts, since first appearing on course competitively in late autumn 2015.
Running sixth in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) in what was his black type debut in early October, Spill The Beans was returned to the paddock after placing second in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) and third in the Flemington Fling (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day, with a view toward 2016 black type targets.
Ladbrokes Australia currently rate Spill The Beans a $6 chance in 2016 QTC Cup betting markets.
