Solicit to be set for Coolmore Classic

Saturday’s Summoned Stakes winner Solicit will have a brief let up before being prepared for the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 12 during the rich Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Solicit was back in the winner’s circle with a runaway four and a quarter lengths win over She’s Clean in the Group 3 $150,000 Le Pine Funerals Summoned Stakes (1500m) at Sandown.

Her win on the weekend was only Solicit’s third run this campaign after a slow start to the Spring Carnival, but trainer Gerald Ryan had her turned out in superb style after the five year old mare was well beaten at her previous start when eighth to Politeness in the Group 1 $500,000 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on October 31.

“She probably got to the mile too quickly second-up in the Myer Classic,” Ryan said.

“She was going to go to stud and they decided at the end of July not to, so she was just on a tight schedule getting to the Myer. And she did take good improvement from that run.”

“We’ll aim towards the Coolmore Classic. It’s over 1500 metres on her home track at Rosehill.”

“I don’t think she’ll be running at Randwick because in her two runs at Randwick she’s been beaten a total of 68 lengths.”

Ryan said that he will give Solicit three weeks in the paddock before she begins her Autumn Carnival preparation which will give her another opportunity to try to win that elusive Group 1 in the Coolmore Classic.

The Street Cry mare has stepped out in Group 1 company on seven occasions with her best results being in her three year old season with two placings.

Solicit ran a close third behind Kirramosa and Zanbagh in the Group 1 $1m Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington during the 2013 Melbourne Spring Carnival and followed that up in the Autumn with a second to Lucia Valentina in the 2014 Group 1 $400,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill.

Saturday’s win was Solicit’s second for Ryan and sixth overall from twenty-six starts and took her prizemoney earnings plus bonuses to over $900,000.
