The Kevin Kemp trained Sold For Song is one of twenty-three three year olds nominated for the Sunshine Coast Guineas, the race that super mare Winx won last year that set her off on her phenomenal run of nine consecutive wins, which included a four and three quarter lengths thrashing of her opposition in the Group 1 $3m Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley during the 2015 Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Sold For Song was rewarded for some consistent Winter Carnival form with a last start win in the Listed $125,000 Landfill Logistics Daybreak Lover (1400m) at Eagle Farm last Saturday.

“She’s so honest. She’s something special,” Kemp said.

At her previous start the Collate filly was only beaten a length and half by the Chris Waller trained Tsarita when third in the Group 2 $400,000 MIRVAC Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm two weeks earlier.

Randwick based father and son training partnership Peter and Paul Snowden have nominated promising colt High Spirit for the Sunshine Coast Guineas.

High Spirit looks set to clash again with Sold For Song after finishing just behind her when fourth in the Queensland Guineas.

The High Chaparral colt is the winner of one race from eight starts and broke his maiden status with a win over 1200m at Gosford on May 5.

Other interstate visitors to be nominated for the Sunshine Coast Guineas are the Robert Smerdon trained Fife, Mr Individual from the Leon and Troy Corstens stable and John Thompson’s Reneged.

Fife has been placed at her last two starts in weaker company at Sandown with a second in a midweek 1600m BenchMark 70 Handicap on May followed by a third in a Saturday class 1600m BenchMark 78 Handicap on May 28.

Mr Individual has had one run in Queensland for a tenth in the Queensland Guineas but was won a barrier trial at the Gold Coast since.

Reneged was a winner two starts back over the same course and distance as the Sunshine Coast Guineas in a BenchMark 75 Handicap before running seventh in the Queensland Guineas.

Leading Sunshine Coast trainer Stuart Kendrick has three nominated for the Sunshine Coast Guineas, Patronizing, Promiscuous and She’s Worthy.

Patronizing has been racing on the midweek circuit with a last forth in a 1350m Class 3 at Doomben on June 22, Promiscuous is a last start winner on her home track on the synthetic circuit in a 1400m Maiden on June 19 and She’s Worthy is also coming off a home track third on the synthetic on the same day in a 1400m Class 3.
