Trainer Aidan O'Brien will decide on where So You Think will run during the Australian Spring Carnival

Dato Tan Chin Tam has decided to leave the fate of So You Think in the hands of his new trainer, Aidan O’Brien.

The well-known owner said that he trusted the Irish trainer to make the best decision about where to race So You Think during the Australian spring.

O’Brien set tongues wagging last weekend when he announced that the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley this year was on the champion horse’s radar.

However, it seems that this possibility is becoming less and less likely as news So You Think plans to run in France’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and America’s Breeder’s Cup begins to surface.

“I learnt a long time ago to listen to great trainers – that is why you give them your horses,” Dato Tan said.

“I listen to Bart (Cummings) and we have been very successful.

“So You Think is now with Aidan O’Brien, who is also a great trainer, and I listen to his advice.”

So You Think has won the past two Cox Plates and Australians are eager to see the champion return to contest a third.

“The Cox Plate is a race I love,” Dato Tan said.

It is one of the world’s great races, but I want to see what is best for So You Think.

“If Aidan O’Brien says that is the Cox Plate then I would love to see him come home and defend his title.

“If Aidan says there is more to conquer then I say ‘conquer’.

“Like any parent you want to do what is best for your children, I want whatever is best for So You Think.

“Time will tell what that is”

Dato Tan would like to see So You Think be the first Australian or New Zealander horse to claim victory in some of the world’s most prestigious races.

“Only Kingston Town has won three Cox Plates and no horse from Australia or New Zealand has won the Arc (Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe) or a Breeders’ Cup race,” Dato Tan said.

“History stands before him. I think So You Think will man up and show what he can do wherever he goes.

“So I say to history try and tame the Tiger.”
