So You Think

In a week where plenty of Australian attention in on the racing in the UK no horse has more interest than So You Think.

He’ll contest his first UK Group 1 since leaving Australia last year when he lines up in the Prince Of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.

He’s the dominate favourite in the field against just six other runners.

After a hugely successful racing career in Australia So You Think has frightened away many across Europe after two highly impressive runs.

His last start 4.5 length annihilation of the Tatteralls Gold Cup field  showed that the five-year-old has lost nothing from the trip north.

Ryan Moore was the man aboard in that run and he’ll take the reins again at Royal Ascot much to the envy of the other riders.

Now trained by Aidan O’Brien, on paper So You Think has few genuine challenges.

One which may ask a few questions though is the French horse Planteur.

Trained by Elie Lellouche the four-year-old is unbeaten from two runs this year including a last start triumph in the Prix Ganay.

Both times Christophe Soumillon has been aboard and he’ll once again take the reins at Royal Ascot.

European power houses Godolphin have two challenges in the mix with Rewilding and Debussy.

Twice Over is another with claims having finished fourth by a length in the 2009 Prince of Wales Stakes and then crossing in second last year.

The other horses in the field are Jan Vermeer and Sri Putra.

While the field may be small it’s still the biggest test So You Think has faced since moving from Bart Cumming’s stable.

Coral spokesman David Stevens said it’s a testament to the quality of So You Think rather than any weakness in his opposition.

“It is a measure of how highly we rate So You Think that even though five of Wednesday’s rivals have recorded top level wins, he is 4-9 favourite to win his first start on British soil,” he said.

“Along with Frankel, he is sure to be one of the banker bets of the week for many punters.”
