So You Think Ready to Deliver Moore Success

Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien has confirmed that champion English jockey Ryan Moore will be aboard So You Think in the Group One Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot.

So You Think has confirmed himself as one of the world’s best middle distance horses with wins in the Mooresbridge Stakes and the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup since transferring to Ireland from Australian trainer Bart Cummings.

Moore is familiar with the High Chaparral colt having ridden him at his most recent Group One success.

“The reason Ryan rode him at the Curragh was because the connections had already asked him to ride at Ascot,” O’Brien said.

“When he said he could, everyone was very anxious that he could get a sit on him before the then and the best place to do that was in the Tattersalls.”

O’Brien said that he was still unsure of what path he would take with So You Think, but he refused to rule out targeting some of the bigger mile races.

“He’s a big cruiser so it’s hard to know exactly what his best trip is,” O’Brien said.

“You wouldn’t be afraid to run him over a mile on what he has shown at home but it will be interesting to see what happens at Ascot.”

So dominant has So You Think been since arriving in Ireland that many trainers have been targeting horses at different races in an effort to avoid the dual Cox Plate winner.

One trainer that will be taking on So You Think in the Prince of Wales Stakes is Henry Cecil.

The top English trainer will start multiple Group One winner Twice Over in the Prince of Wales Stakes and believes his horse has every chance of knocking off the odds on favourite.

“He’s very well. They’re talking about So You Think as very good but I’m looking forward to running against him. Our horse is in good form and we know he’s a very good horse – we’ll certainly give him a race.” Cecil said.

Cecil also trains Frankel, who on timeform ratings is currently the best horse in the world.

The three year old colt puts his undefeated streak on the line on the St James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, and in a scary sign for his rivals Cecil believes the horse is only just now becoming  a proper racehorse.

“He’s growing up and beginning to relax a lot more and we’re very happy with him. Hopefully I’ve got him as right as it is possible to get a horse for a race like this.” Cecil said.

Frankel will race in the early hours of Wednesday morning Australian time and is currently rated a $1.33 chance in the St James Palace Stakes. So You Think will race in the early hours of Thursday morning Australian time and is currently a $1.44 favourite for the Prince of Wales Stakes.
