The Team Snowden pair of on pace sprinters Russian Revolution and Redzel have drawn handy barriers in the Group 1 $700,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Russian Revolution will remain at the top of the market order at Ladbrokes.com.au after drawing barrier five in the fifteen horse field while the speedy Redzel will jump from gate three.
The Doomben track has been rated a heavy 8 on Wednesday morning following some showers early in the week but the wet track won’t worry the Peter and Paul Snowden trainerd speedsters who both have excellent wet weather form.
Only a head separated the pair when Russian Revolution got the nod in when the pair ran the quinella on a heavy 10 in the Group 1 $700,000 Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill on March 18.
Redzel then came out at his next start and led all of the way on a heavy 8 to beat Doomben 10,000 rival Counterattack in the Group 3 $150,000 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 15.
Last year’s Doomben 10,000 winner Music Magnate has drawn midfield at barrier seven with Brisbane’s premiership winning jockey Jeff Lloyd in the saddle again after combining with the Bjorn Baker trained sprinter for a last start win in the Group 2 $200,000 Ellyce Galvin Victory Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm April 29.
Big race jockey Damian Browne will have to be at the top of his game after his mount Fell Swoop drew one from the outside at fourteen.
The Matt Dale trained Canberra sprinter is yet to win at Group 1 level but has been placed five times including a last start third behind Chautauqua and English in the Group 1 $2.5m Darley T J Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 1.
Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller has two runners in the Doomben 10,000, Japonisme who drew the rails and Counterattack who will be next to his stablemate in the starting stalls in gate two.
Darren Weir will also saddle up two runners with Sooboog at barrier four while El Divino has drawn out wide at eleven.
Toowoomba trainer Michael Nolan has given his sprinter Upstart Pride the task of flying the flag for the locals in the Doomben 10,000 and the five year old grey has drawn in the second half of the field at barrier twelve.
Gary Moore’s Group 1 winner Takedown has drawn the outside gate with Brenton Avdulla to ride while veteran sprinter Rebel Dane will jump from gate ten with Robbie Fraad in the saddle.
