Snitsky Chases Elusive Black Type Out West

Trainer Gerald Ryan will set his sights on Western Australia with his gifted four-year-old Snitsky.

The Snitzel entire will be chasing some well-deserved Black Type when he makes the trip across the country for a six week campaign.

Over that time, Snitsky will target a total of three races at Belmont Racecourse.

The talented galloper is fresh off a last start second behind Upshot in the $85,000 Share Care Respite Handicap at Warwick Farm Racecourse on July 13.

Ryan feels that the time is now right for Snitsky to step up to Listed level out west.

“He’s right in the zone at the moment after his short let up on the water walker and his narrow defeat at Warwick Farm, his work the other morning was the best he’s ever gone,” Ryan told racingandsports.com.au.

Snitsky has won six of his 16 race starts throughout his horse racing career and has earned more than $170,000 in prize money during that time.

The sprinter will be chasing his first win since posting victory in the $35,000 More Than Ready Handicap at Canterbury on April 10, 2013.

The $55,000 purchase from the 2010 Magic Millions Sale will be looking to produce a clean sweep when he embarks on his first campaign outside of his native New South Wales.

Meanwhile, Gerald Ryan is also focusing on another of Snitzel’s progeny, Snitzel’s Jewel.

The current two-year-old has won both her career race starts and has earned more than $61,000 in prize money.

Snitzel’s Jewel’s latest win came in the $85,000 Share Care Directions Sprint at Warwick Farm, and Ryan is hopeful that she can continue to excel during the upcoming spring carnival.

“She’s done really well since her first-up win but this is another step again,” Ryan told AAP.

“Whether she’s good enough, we’ll find out.”

Ryan plans to send the filly to some of the major spring carnival features.

“She’s only a light little thing but if she can perform as she did last time we’ll have a look at the San Domenico two weeks later,” he said.

“There is also the Silver Shadow against the fillies the week after.”
