Anthony Cummings just can’t take a trick of late and things just got a whole lot worse after Smart Missile was scratched from the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes.

Connections and punters alike were incredibly optimistic about his chances going into the Golden Slipper last week but he was controversially scratched after playing up in the barriers.

A clearly gutted but still composed Cummings fronted the cameras after the incident and he must have taken some conciliation in the fact he could back up this weekend.

Now that this opportunity is gone as well, the Autumn Carnival is over for Smart Missile.

Cummings said the decision was made to scratch the horse after he pulled up sore after morning trackwork.

“I spoke with the connections and we have decided to look after him and we’ll bring him back for the spring,” he said

He was a clear early favourite for the 2011 AJC Sires Produce Stakes which is now likely to be headed by Do You Think.
