Sizzling Debut Has Munce Excited For Millions

Sizzling

Two-year-old Sizzling won on debut at Eagle Farm with jockey Chris Munce

As arguably the top rider in Brisbane Chris Munce has the enviable position of being able to pretty much pick and choose his rides every weekend.

It keeps him aboard the best horses and as a result keeps him at the pointy end of the jockey’s premiership.

No period is this more important than the major carnivals and few carnivals are more important than the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January.

Munce has ridden a few of the qualified two year olds already in what is effectively a Magic Millions trial period for him.

Without a doubt the best of them was Sizzling, a horse that could well be the best two year old in the country at the moment.

The Kelso Wood colt won on debut at Eagle Farm over 1000m putting a break of six lengths between him and his closest rival.

Munce was in the saddle then and all going to plan will be again on the Gold Coast.

“He was impressive and he won by a big space and ran a pretty slick time too,” he said.

“He’s just a lovely natured bloke and a good style horse too.

“All he wants to do is please you.”

Sizzling settled back in the early stages before flying home around the bend to gap them in a matter of strides.

“He wasn’t slow out of the gates, he jumped every bit as quick as them…he just raced up behind them and pt pay to them pretty quick,” Munce said.

Not only was the margin impressive but the time too, the 57.43 second run a new class record at Eagle Farm.

Punters picked it to, Sizzling starting a $1.30 favourite in the race, a rare quote for a two year old event full of first starters.
