Sistonic will face the toughest test of her racing career to date in the 2015 Typhoon Tracy Stakes and co-trainer Tom Dabernig believes that the talented filly can defend her unbeaten record in the Group 3 event at Moonee Valley tonight.

Sistonic, a three-quarter relative to equine superstar Black Caviar, stamped herself as a filly to watch with a dominant four and a half lengths win in the Peter Gray Plate (1100m) at Sale on January 15 and she cruised to an effortless victory in the Reg Delaney Memorial Handicap (1200m) at Moonee Valley on January 30.
The Bel Esprit filly will face much stiffer competition in the Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m), but Dabernig told Racing Ahead that the three-year-old has taken plenty of benefit from her two race starts to date and is thrilled with her physical condition.
“We couldn’t be happier with her heading into the race,” Dabernig said.
“This is the first time that we have seen her in this company, but now she has had the benefit of a couple of runs and the benefit of racing at Moonee Valley, which she handled really well.
“From barrier two she should get a nice run in the race and she certainly hasn’t taken any backward steps.
“I look forward to seeing how she can measure up tonight.
“I am as confident as she can be and I am always a little conservative, but I think that she is a really high class filly.”
Sistonic has led from start to finish in her two career starts to date and possesses a great deal of tactical speed, but Dabernig revealed that the filly does not necessarily have to lead in the early stages of the Typhoon Tracy Stakes.
The presence of Eloping means that there should be plenty of pace in the Typhoon Tracy Stakes and Dabernig said that he will be leaving it up to jockey Michael Walker to decide where the promising filly settles in the first 200 metres.
“To me it looks like there is a fair bit of speed and she has lovely natural gate speed,” Dabernig said.
“I think that we will just let Michael work it out in the first 150 metres and if she begins really well we certainly wouldn’t be handing it up.
“If the speed is coming from outside us I think that we can sit just off them.
“She will be up on the pace.”
Sistonic is currently available at 2015 Typhoon Tracy Stakes odds of $1.95 with Ladbrokes and is a clear favourite from Royal Snitzel ($6), Matiljia ($7), Vezalay ($8) and Eloping ($9).
