Sistine Demon demolishes the field in the Victoria Handicap

The Andrew Noblet trained Sistine Demon ($3.30 favourite) made light of a wide barrier and crossed the field in the first one hundred metres to travel sweetly in front before producing an electrifying turn of foot to scorch away from Gig ($11) and one of the outsiders of the field London Stripe ($81).

Adelaide apprentice Jamie Kah, who is riding in Melbourne on a three month loan, controlled the race from the front and let Sistine Demon slip away on the corner to score an outstanding win.

Today’s win was the Excites four year old seventh win from his last eight starts and Noblet will now consider a trip to Brisbane for the Winter Carnival.

“He has just improved every start,” Noblet said.

“I said before the run that that was the best I have had him for a long time. He looked so good during the week, and he worked terrific on Tuesday morning.”

“Just full credit to all my staff, they have done a great job with this horse and it’s been a great team effort.”

“We will take him home and see how he is during the week and see where we go from here.”

“We might look at Brisbane for him. If we look at Brisbane it is going to make the Spring hard. He has been up for a while but it doesn’t seem to worry him.”

“He’s has got into a good routine now.”

Kah had previous won on Sistine Demon two starts back at Caulfield and wasn’t overwhelmed riding the heavily back favourite and scored one of her easiest wins to record her first Group 3 success.

“It was my biggest win by far,” Kah said.

“Very thankful for Andrew keeping me on him. This horse is getting better with each run.”

“He flies the gates and put himself there in the race, travelled super and never in doubt.”
