Sir Moments was having his second run back from a spell and quickly found his winning Winter Carnival form coming from midfield to score a one length win in the $65,000 Super Starfish Open Handicap over 1400m.

Eagle Farm trainer Steven O’Dea liked the way that Sir Moments hit the line for jockey Tim Bell at the end of the 1400m and said that the four year old is ready to step up to the 1600m of the Villiers Stakes.

“He was really strong at the finish and it looks like he’s wanting further,” O’Dea told Racing Queensland News after Saturday’s win.

“Tim was a little more positive out of the gates.”

“He’s quite versatile and he showed he can race forward which is a positive.”

Sir Moments rose into the spotlight during the Winter Carnival with a stunning late finishing win in the Group 2 $350,000 Sky Racing Queensland Guineas (1400m) at Eagle Farm in May and repeated that effort with a last to first win in the Listed $125,000 Best Security Daybreak Lover (1600m) at Eagle Farm seven days later.

The Villiers Stakes is already starting to take shape with last Saturday’s Rosehill winner Heart Testa and runner up Mouro  possible candidates for the 1600m Randwick Summer feature.

Chris Waller will look to start Heart Testa in the Listed $100,000 Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday week as a tester for the Villiers Stakes.

’It opens up options and a race like the Festival Stakes in two weeks would be ideal,’’ Waller said after Heart Testa’s win on Saturday.

‘’He might have got favours but there not much difference between 1350m and 1500m especially at Rosehill.’’

The Tony McEvoy trained Mouro was having his first run back following a Winter spell and was quick to find form with a solid second to Heart Testa.
