Sino Eagle Chasing Maiden Group Win In Aurie’s Star Handicap

Sino Eagle will have the chance to record her maiden win at Group level in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday and trainer Peter Moody is hoping that the talented mare can improve her black type record in the $150,000 race.

Sino Eagle started her spring campaign with a strong win in the Chris Flavelle Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday.

Sino Eagle started her spring campaign with a strong win in the Chris Flavelle Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday.

Sino Eagle returned to the races with a comfortable two lengths win over Aces And Angles and Forgeress in the Chris Flavelle Handicap (1200m) at Caulfield on July 26 and Moody told Racing Ahead that his plan was always to have the daughter of Casino Prince as fit as possible at the start of her spring campaign.

“She prepped up well and it was our intention to have her up and running so that we could go into a couple of these early stakes races with residual fitness and maybe catch some of the better performed horses off their guard,” Moody said.

“That is what we are aiming to do tomorrow.

“It is her first exposure to the straight and that is always an unknown, but she is fit and well.

“Linda Meech knows her well and rode her good the other day.

“She has drawn the middle or outside where they traditionally are best suited, so she is going to get a nice chance in this.”

Sino Eagle has recorded six wins from her 13 race starts to date, but she is yet to break through for a maiden black type race win after finishing third behind Fiva All in the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) at Flemington during the 2014 Melbourne Festival Of Racing.

Moody said that Sino Eagle will be given a number of chances to win at Group level during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival and he revealed that the five-year-old will have her next race start in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 30.

“She goes three weeks into the Cockram and hopefully she does the same and catches some of the better mares off guard with her fitness,” Moody said.

“She is a five-time city winner and we have got to build on her black type record.”

Sino Eagle is currently available at 2014 Aurie’s Star Handicap odds of $6 at Ladbrokes Australia; with The Galaxy winner Tiger Tees ($3.30) a clear favourite from Zamorar ($4.80) and Shanghai Warrior ($6).
